Quick Update

Blog's Future/Facebook/New Products/Specials/In-Stock
Posted by: Dave Cool

Hi Kids,

Well, I'm glad that I put out that last news item about the blog. Your feedback (finally) gave me a lot to think about and clarified a few significant points. Many of your comments have been filed away for future perusal, but I've made several decisions.

  1. Many of you do not read blogs but do still want to be informed about new products, sales etc. As a result I will try to put out a newsletter every month with all significant developments not covered in separate news bulletins.

  2. If your feedback is a good statistical indication there is still a significant minority that do read the blogs. You value the timely reminders of pre-order dates, what's just been received, what's on sale etc. Some of you look forward to the sale or free shipping events. As a result, I will continue with the blog and aim to have at least one post between each newsletter.

  3. I believe that my instincts were correct - Facebook would be a waste of my time and effort. Although I only mentioned it in passing in my email, each and every one of you that brought it up in your comments were not interested. Until and unless you indicate otherwise there will be no Facebook page for Canadian Express Line.

Meanwhile, in New Products, several new Morning Sun books have been announced, including VIA In Color: The First 25 Years 1976 - 2001 by Kevin Holland: Rapido has announced "Bendy Track", coming in September in Codes 83 and 100: The latest CN Lines magazine is in stock: Athearn has announced more MP15ACs in CP and SOO, plus Bombardier double-deck cars in GO and Bethgon "Coalporters" in CN etc. I'm getting clarification on the "Genesis" discount before putting out a news item on this, but you can now place your pre-order - they are in the Store.

Also new is another kit from Kanamodel Products - a CP commercial coal shed. My price will be $37.95. Note also new "Laserwood" kits from Builders In Scale. My regular 10% discount applies to all their products.

The Intermountain ES44DC in CN is now in stock. As I have a few more than planned I have put them on sale for a short while. Grab them while you can.

Many of the Rapido FP9A in CN (1961) came and went, except for the three units still in stock. More are to come in about a month. The CC&F lightweight coaches have been ordered - I will have a few spare.

It appears the the CN Historical Association's first CN book is almost sold out. The Bytown Railway Society's reprinted Montreal Streetcars - Volume 1 is sold out, but I still have some. (I also have many trackside guides in stock).

Broadway Ltd's new EMD NW2 in CN is now in stock in two road numbers.

That's it for now,

Have a great week,
