Hi Kids,

The show season started last weekend with the Model Railroad Flea Market at Etobecoke's Humber College. Coming up in a few days will be Picton's Model Train & Hobby Show, followed by  the 2nd Annual NFR Train Show at Tottenham (a new one for me) and the Brampton Model Railroad Show. Full details can be found here.

New announcements for Athearn, Atlas and Intermountain have been pretty light recently. This is probably due to the extensive backlog already in the pipeline, due, in most cases, to factory delays. As a result I haven't always bothered with a news item to cover the announcements. Any Canadian rolling stock will have been added to the Store though. In the case of this month's Intermountain there were only two HO and one N freight cars. Oh - by the way, that HO GP40-2(W) is not listed in September's shipping container yet. Even if it is the goodies will probably not turn up on my doorstep for a few months yet. They are sold out at Atlas but I'm still finding sources with spare so it you haven't ordered yet you still can.

Similarly, the "Big ALCos" are sold out at Bowser (both releases), although I have a few left in the Store from the second release.

TrueLine Trains have a number of HO projects underway, but, before you ask, I have no idea when anything will be arriving. Meanwhile, many previous HO releases are now sold out at TrueLine. After a recent thinning the number of items in the Store is now down to 176. Get those boxcars, hopper cars and cabeese before they're gone!

I should be receiving a batch of Rapido N "Panorama" passenger cars any day now. If you haven't ordered yet I have a few still available in the Store - first come, first served. The company has released drawings of the HO "The Canadian" cars, see here. Ordered yours yet? Note that the order deadline for the HO "Super Continental" 6-6-4 sleeper is October 1st.

I've just received a big shipment from Digitrax, including more of the popular new SDH164D, a number of throttles and, finally, more Zephyrs. Get them while they're hot!

I am considering becoming an authorised dealer for Micro Trains Line. As such, I would have to make a considerable initial investment in stock (about four tiimes as much as a bricks-and-mortar store, for some reason). My discount to you would be 15% off the MSRP. If you are likely to be needing any Micro Trains products over the next couple of months please let me know, in order to help me gauge interest.

I finally competed the makeover of the Store categories, allowing for more user-friendly sub-categories. I am now continuing to add to the "Vehicles" section and have just uploaded 83 Classic Metal Works "Mini Metal" vehicles. I haven't decided on the next category of items to add. Which is most important to you - the user? Please give me your comments.

I am endeavouring to keep the Store as up-to-date as possible and the current goal is to check availability of all items once a month. There are now over 6000 items so this is no easy task. It is possible that you could order something in the Store and it ends up being sold out or not currently available. My apologies in advance if this happens. At least you won't be charged for it - I only collect payment at the time of shipping.

Back in the Spring I started sending out surveys to all clients who had made purchases from me over the last couple of years, with the intention of getting some feedback on the site, newsletter, blog feed, news feed and Online Store. However, only about one in eight  bothered to respond, so I gave up the idea and spent the time working on improvements that I knew were needed. If you have any comments or requirements relating to the site, feeds or Store, don't hesitate to contact me (especially if it is preventing you from making a purchase or order).

The exchange rate used in the Store is still 1.05.

Have a great week,

Dave
