Site Progress etc.

Easier browsing, client survey, shipping delays, what's in, etc.

Hi Kids,

I haven't  finished loading the "Vehicles" category yet as I've been working on solving a couple of problems with the category breakdown. First is putting the scale split at the top, as mentioned previously. Once done you will see HO, N and maybe HO/N as the first sub-categories. This should make browsing your chosen scale easier. The second is giving full descriptions to the sub-categories so that when filtering under a given manufacturer, the resulting categories make sense.

I'm also sending out client surveys to all of you who have made purchases from me over the last couple of years. The intention is to get some feedback from you on your opinion of the site, newsletter, blog feed, news feed and online store. The site and its features will only correspond to your requirements if I know what they are. Almost all of my feedback so far is that "...its a great site with great prices...". Agreed, but how can it be optimised so that its the only site you need to visit to find the products you need and make an easy online order or purchase?.

Note that many of the forthcoming locomotives and freight cars from Atlas, Athearn and InterMountain have had revised due dates entered in their store listings. For example the much anticipated GP40-2W from Atlas was due in December (2009), then March this year and now May. From InterMountain I haven't yet received my shipment of February releases. If you haven't received items that you were expecting by now try checking the due dates again.

Just received Atlas track/structures, Bytown R.S. books, Circuitron switch machines, Kalmbach books, Peco track etc. Also, finally, more of the Walthers geared driver assemblies for P2K locomotives, item 922-584408, at $3.95 per pack of 2 axles. Only 50 packs in stock. Oh yes - a big Digitrrax shipment is imminent.

Finally, how about that Canadian Dollar, eh! Just about parity at the moment. US products are priced in the store using 1.01 so your almost getting that now when you make a purchase.

Have a great week,

Dave
